DAY 1

Miami - Havana

  • Flight Miami International Airport, Miami, Florida, US to Jose Marti International Airport, Havana, Cuba. After immigration and customs clearance you will meet your professional English/Spanish speaking tour guide and driver.
  • Transfer to accommodations in a modern air-conditioned tour coach with your first panoramic city tour on the way.
  • Accommodation at a hotel Ambos Mundos in the historic center of Havana, declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1982. Welcome dinner (included) with explanation of the schedule by the tour guide.
  • Return to the Hotel.
  • Diner in Divina Pastora restaurant.

DAY 2

Havana

  • Breakfast at the Hotel.
  • Presentation, by a Cuban architect, of the integral rehabilitation project of the historic center with explanation of the singular management model and social programs. Visit to the scale model of the historic center for orientation.
  • Lunch at restaurant Doña Eutimia in the historic center.
  • Specialized walking tour through the main squares and streets of the historic center with an architectural approach.
  • Return to the Hotel.
  • Dinner in El Aljibe Restaurant.

DAY 3

Havana

  • Breakfast at the Hotel.
  • Panoramic bus tour through the former Las Murallas neighborhod and the modern part of the city to appreciate the emblematic examples of the main architectural styles: Centro Habana, Vedado, Miramar and Cubanacán. It includes a guided visit to the City Scale Model in order to analyze the urban development and it’s main stages.
  • Lunch in restaurant La Torre.
  • Visit to Casablanca on the other side of the bay and to the fortification system (Morro and Cabaña) in order to see examples of military architecture corresponding to two different moments in the development of the defensive system of the city, whose fortresses are included in the declaration of World Heritage Site.
  • Return to the Hotel.
  • Dinner in Santo Angel Resturant.

DAY 4

Havana

  • Breakfast at the Hotel.
  • Meeting with architects at their studies. Guided visit to the San Gerónimo College, place where the university of the city and the country was founded in the former building in 1728 and which is today a faculty belonging to the University of Havana where a university course for a new degree is offered: preservation and management of the historical cultural heritage.
  • Lunch in Restaurant La Mina.
  • Visit to Regla, a suburb on the East side of the Havana bay. Visit to the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Regla and the municipal museum. Time for drawings.
  • Return to the Hotel.
  • Dinner at restaurant El Patio de la Catedral.

DAY 5

Havana

  • Breakfast at the Hotel.
  • Visit to the neighborhoods East of the city: Camilo Cienfuegos and Villa Panamericana with stop at the sports facilities built for the Pan-American Games held in 1991. Visit to Alamar, a dormitory town with Soviet-like architecture. It includes the visit to the new dwellings built by the Oce of the Historian in order to relocate families as part of the social An architect from the Master Plan will guide the tour.
  • Lunch in Cojimar Restaurant (here you will see the architecture of a picturesque Sherman village, a place related to the life of the famous American writer Ernest Hemingway and the captain of hissing boat, Gregorio Fuentes).
  • Visit to the Hemingway Museum located in Finca Vigía, former residence of the American writer in the San Francisco de Paula neighbor-hood on the outskirts of the city.
  • Return to the Hotel with a stop at Cojímar.
  • Dinner at El Templete Restaurant, overlooking the Havana bay.

DAY 6

Havana

  • Breakfast at the Hotel.
  • Tour through the Nuevo Vedado neighborhood to appreciate examples of the modern movement in local architecture. Stop at Revolution Square to analyze the typical rationalist set of buildings dating from the 1950’s.  Visit to the Christopher Columbus cemetery, a real open-air museum of funerary art declared as national monument.
  • Lunch in restaurant Ivan Justo.
  • Visit to El Cerro, an example of neoclassical suburb in the colonial period as the result of urban expansion westwards.
  • Return to the Hotel.
  • Dinner in the Café del Oriente (During the dinner summary of the tour with the Cuban architects who accompanied them during the tour)
