The fifth edition of the Mozart-Havana Festival will take place from October 25 to November 2 of this year and will have a formidable program with premieres of works and soloist guests such as the Dutch cellist Ella van Poucke and the violinist, musicologist and director by German orchestra Thomas Hengelbrock, in addition to notable symphonic and chamber groups from Cuba.

One of the main attractions of this edition will be the inclusion of an opera in the event program. This is “La clemencia de Tito”, by the composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, under the direction of the Carlos Díaz National Theater Award, who will impose his particular style on the piece. The García Lorca room, of the Great Theater of Havana Alicia Alonso, will host this unique presentation on October 25, and will replace it on 26 and 27.

According to the director of the Mozartian Lyceum of Havana, the musical work will be in charge of the Lyceum Orchestra, and the opera will mix – in a unique way – the Italian and Spanish language on the scene by Austrian and Cuban soloists.

MAIN PRESENTATIONS

Other novelties to highlight are: the performance of the guest soloist, the violist Mara Lucía Tieles, on the 29th at the Oratorio San Felipe Neri, on Tuesday, October 29 and the premiere of “Elegía concertante para tres y orquesta”, by the young woman composer Adriana Amador, by soloist Diosmel Jaca.

The performance of Cuban pianist Alejandro Falcón is very attractive in the Martí Theater, on Friday, October 1st, with the premiere of Danzones of his authorship based on Mozart’s works.

The Cathedral of Havana will serve as the setting for the closing of the event on Saturday, November 2; where the German composer Thomas Hengelbrock will conduct the Orchestra of the Mozartian Lyceum of Havana in the interpretation of the “Crowning Mass in C major Kv. 317”, by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the “Symphony No. 1 Spring in B flat major Opus 38 “by Robert Schumann
